How to Stay Hygienic Using Public Swimming Pools

How to Stay Hygienic Using Public Swimming Pools

Swimming, as one of the most popular disciplines, is very often chosen by

people who send their time as actively as possible. It might be fun, a great way
to burn some calories and at the same time it’s a perfect option if you need to
de-stress. Unfortunately, because of germs and bacteria, swimming may be
dangerous for swimmers. This is why you should stick to some basic
swimming-pool rules.

How to Check if the Swimming Pool Is Clean? How to Check if It
Isn’t?
A swimming pool is an ideal environment for bacteria and microbes as it’s warm and humid. As a result, swimmers often suffer from urinary tract infections, yeast
infections and mycosis, both because of the contact with water and swallowing it by accident. A sad fact is that all these microbes are brought to the swimming pool by swimmers themselves. I mean, those who forget about basic hygiene rules. So, how to check if the water is clean? There are a few questions you should answer before entering the pool:
  • Are there any plates reminding people about personal hygiene?
  • Are filters clean? Aren’t they clogged with dirt?
  • Are filtering pumps working fine?
  • Do drainage grates look okay?

Is the pool area free of chlorine odor? If you feel the smell, it means that the amount
of chlorine is too low.
If you answer 5 x ‘Yes’, the swimming pool is probably clean. If the water is dirty and the floor – slippery, don’t enter the water. Also, if your skin gets itchy or eyes
suddenly feel irritated, it’s time to go out. Such symptoms can indicate the wrong
level of chlorine.

Personal Hygiene at the Pool
Using swimming pool can only be safe if you follow the most important hygiene tips:

  1.  Before entering the water, wash the whole body with soap.
  2.  Always wear safety shoes so that you avoid getting infected with foot fungus.
  3.  Avoid swallowing the water. Use swimming goggles.
  4.  If you need to use the toilet while swimming, wash the whole body again before you go back to the water.
  5. Once you finish swimming, thoroughly wash the whole body with soap again or use a bactericidal agent.
  6. When you’re back home, wash the towel in a high temperature and wash the flip-flops thoroughly.
  7. Don’t swim in the pool if you are sick or if you have any wounds on your skin.

How to Take Care of Your Skin and Hair Before and After Swimming
in the Pool

Chlorine is the most common chemical used as a pool water cleaner. It kills fungus
and microbes living it the water, however it’s also destructive for human’s hair and
body. First of all, chlorine irritates and dries the skin. Chlorine flushes the lipid layer from the skin which results in an unpleasant side effect – a ‘tight skin’ feeling.
Sometimes people with very sensitive skin even react with a rash. And finally,
chlorine also affects hair. It destroys hair fibers which makes your hair dry and weak.

How Can You Protect Your Skin and Hair?
Always use the proper cosmetics. Believe me, there are many cosmetics for
swimmers out there. Not only do they ensure the maximum hygiene and destroy
microbes, but also moisturize the skin and hair and help them regenerate after being exposed to chlorinated water. In addition, these cosmetics neutralize the chlorine smell and leave a fresh scent on your skin and hair. Among the cosmetics for swimmers you will find shower gels, shampoos, conditioners and body lotions. If you are looking for a cosmetic that will make your skin and hair revitalized and fresh after swimming, make sure you see the TRISWIM cosmetic line with aloe vera and vitamin E.
